I am a Year 5 student at Paparore School School in Northland, New Zealand. Mrs Junjovich is my teacher. My blog is a collection of my work at various stages, across different curriculum areas. Throughout my time at Paparore School I may share draft copies of my work for feedback and feed forward. Other times I will share my final published pieces. I would appreciate any feedback through leaving me a positive, thoughtful, helpful comment. Thank you

WALT We are learning to know the difference when there is a rip and when there isn't. We have a little way to remember it too. "If it's white it's alright" But... "If it's green it's mean"
Paddle Boarding
On Wednesday my class Te Manga, Te Puawai and Te Kauru got ready to walk down to lake Ngatu. It took us ages to get there because the length was 1 point 30 k. When we got there we waited for Te Kauru then finally my teacher said we can play on the sand so everyone went running, jumping, sliding and tripping down into the shallows and started to jump into the holes. People started throwing sand balls at each other.
There was a big hole in the corner on the left that nobody knew about. When it was my turn to go on the paddle board we went out to the deep. We started to jump off the paddle board. I swam the way back when we back on the sand Atama found the big hole. and started to dig it out... Soon we were testing how deep it was and everybody was falling over because it was that deep! Soon the teacher said to come by our bags and we did the school pattere for joe and scott.

Mad About Science
WALT We are learning to predict and explain what is happening during our science experiments.
What did you enjoy most about our science experiments? From the first one was when we used the dish washing liquid on a stick. because the fat runs away and starts to find each other. Then I started to mix it around. It started to turn grey with a little bit of red. I mixed it a bit more and turned brown!
The next one was crawling colours. It is made like this. first you get some water, 4 strips of paper and some food colouring. Now you get the cups and the food colouring pour the food coloring into the cup grab the paper, put it in between the cups leave it for thirty minutes and the water should travel into the empty cups. Here are some photos of the day.

Introduction:
Tortola lava. Today I am going to talk about the voting age. There is an election coming up at the end of October and at the moment the voting age is 18! I think it should be lowered down to age 12 because do you want to wait to vote until you’re 18? I certainly do NOT!!!
Children have challenges and problems in their life that they face everyday. Children can change the world.
Firstly, If I could change anything by increasing the number of police so there is less crime and so the people are safe and by doing that we have increase the money because the lower the money is the less people will want to sign up. So the shootouts will be smaller and robberies will be less.
Kids are very clever. They know a lot about science. If they could vote, they might be able to encourage the government to make a vaccine for covid 19 and other viruses.
Creating equipment for jobs creating new jobs to fix the plastic problem. Did you know? Every second a plastic bag or bottle etc is being made. Kids can stop more pollution in the air and in the ocean. We can have more schools, hospitals, hand sanitizer bottles, electric cars and less polluting.
Making new entertainment things like basketball, soccer and rugby. Here is a new one that I made up speed this is how you play. You run around in a maze with a paintball gun and there are other people in the maze and if you get shot on the pad on the chest you are out.
Thirdly, you can make people happier and make our country even better! Our earth even better, soul, friends, family and the community! If I could vote I would vote people should stop doing crime and then we would have a better planet.
That is why the voting age should be lowered to age 12 and up.

I don't believe it!
WALT use our reading strategies to find information in the text and explain it to others. Before you go to sleep at night, do check under your bed for monsters? If you do, don't worry you're not the only one! People everywhere tell stories about monsters. some monsters are huge and scary creatures that roam the countryside. Others lie in wait in caves or rivers ready to grab anyone who comes to close. Some monsters look frightening but can be caring and friendly. Here are two examples.
My first favorite is the kraken because I like octopus and big things. many sailors feared kraken because they swallow huge ships [that was a metaphor] and destroy anything in the way but now they are extinct because it is also folktale. my second favorite monster is the dragon because some breathe fire and ice some have powerful wings. In england, there are stories about Saint George, a brave knight who rode out to fight a dragon that was terrifying people all over countryside. However, not all dragons are bad. chinese dragons look fierce but many people say they bring good luck On special

Level 2 Covid 19 Writing
WALT explain what the rules are at Level 2 and what we think about it. This is my covid 19 writing. What happens at level 2: physical distancing, eating inside/outside at school and sneezing/coughing into your elbow. [No change there though] I feel annoyed because I get bored at home in lockdown. [Apart from watching movies] I love watching movies. lockdown + movies = happiness lockdown + no school = boredness do not panic buy. At school: junior lunch and junior morning tea. Then senior morning tea, at lunch no touching faces washing hands. [basically everywhere] Everywhere: not bumping people, not touching people because of covid 19, not buying all the toilet paper in pak n save. I mean nobody likes covid 19. In America 5000 people are dying in America each day! That is because they are not going into level four lockdown because Donald Trump said they don’t need to. Silly right? I think it is because if they don’t go into lockdown it will mean total extension.

DESCRIBE A MOMENT IN TIME - Diving
A curious diver is searching for a KRAKEN in a beautiful turquoise cavern but instead of finding a kraken he found a skeleton. There are RAZOR SHARP ROCKS EVERYWHERE,
a GREAT WHITE SHARK is lunging at the diver and the diver almost LOST A LEG!!! Just kidding.
He found a school of haku [kingfish] and some colorful kina, [sea-urchins] huge rock-fish then it swam into the deeps of the unknown and little did he know that it led to a shipwreck.
When he got in the shipwreck, the water was even more turquoise inside than he imagined. There is dangerous jellyfish, some crayfish, a school of flounders, a school of snappers, the rockfish he seen before, a little seahorse, A MEGAMOUTH SHARK AND A KRAKEN
